Dutch retailers generated 6.2% more online turnover in the second quarter of 2026 than in the same period a year earlier. Total retail turnover grew by 3.1%, while sales volume was 2.5% higher.
The strongest online growth came from multichannel sellers: companies with both physical stores and an online channel recorded 7.3% growth. Online-only retailers and mail-order companies grew by 5.4%. The figures are provisional and measure turnover, not the number of orders or parcels shipped.
For fulfilment teams, turnover growth does not automatically mean an equal increase in volume. Product mix, price changes and average order value determine how many additional storage locations, picks and shipments are actually needed.
Use the Statistics Netherlands figures as an external benchmark alongside your own order lines, units per order, return rates and peak profiles. This shows whether growth is mainly commercial or also requires extra operational capacity.
