Amazon, Belgian e-commerce federation Becom and the federal government have signed a memorandum to accelerate online exports by Belgian SMEs. The programme combines training and dialogue on trade barriers with Amazon’s sales and fulfilment infrastructure.

According to Amazon, more than 90% of Belgian SMEs selling on its platform exported in 2025. Together they generated more than €400 million in export sales and shipped over 10 million products. More than €190 million came from sales to other EU countries.

The figures were published by Amazon and cover sellers within its own ecosystem only. They do not provide a complete view of the Belgian e-commerce market. The memorandum does show how marketplace sales, international product content and outsourced fulfilment are being organised as one export instrument.

For Dutch webshops, this may increase competition across the Benelux. The relevant comparison is not reach alone, but total margin after marketplace fees, storage, returns, VAT obligations and dependency on a single sales channel.
